Hello and Welcome! I'm Angela Camasto, a board-certified general pediatrician. I've been caring for kids in the Lehigh Valley, PA area for over 20 years. My approach to patient care is detail-oriented and holistic. I give the type of care that I would want for myself or a family member. Getting to the root cause of a health concern is a top priority for me. In 2015, I developed chronic fatigue, and I turned to functional medicine to help me. This experience led me to pursue additional training and I am currently enrolled in a master’s level program at the School of Applied Functional Medicine. I am passionate about empowering parents and patients on their journey to better (even optimal!) health. The body has a powerful ability to heal itself when it is given what it needs and when what is hindering its healing is removed. This often requires some “medical detective work,” so I will be spending plenty of time gathering information and listening to your concerns. I look forward to partnering with you to help your child thrive!
"Functional medicine is a science based, personalized health care approach that assesses and treats underlying causes of illness through individually-tailored therapies to restore health and improve function." - Dr. Mark Hyman, Director, Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine
The concept of Functional Medicine was developed in 1990 by Dr. Jeffery Bland to better treat and prevent chronic illness. It is a comprehensive model of health care that considers all potential contributing factors to a person's illness, such as: genetics, weaknesses in biochemical pathways, inflammation, environmental toxic exposures, physical and emotional stress, and lifestyle factors like diet/nutrition, sleep, and exercise. Functional Medicine practitioners ask how and why illness occurs and aim to restore health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual.
As a pediatrician, I believe strongly in disease prevention. In the last 20 years, the number of children with chronic illness has significantly increased and it seems that most of my patients are now taking at least one long term medication. I see too many adolescents struggling to handle the basics of daily life. Our children deserve better! For our society to thrive, we need our young people to feel their best so they can share their talents! The good news is, with the tools of Functional Medicine, chronic illness can be reversed or significantly improved.
I start with a detailed history and physical exam, which helps to identify where potential body dysfunction lies. Tests are ordered through both traditional and functional medicine laboratories. Treatment plans incorporate some of the usual "tools" from traditional medicine in addition to using other tools which may include: targeted nutrient support, detoxification support, antimicrobial treatment, and lifestyle changes (diet, sleep, exercise, mindfulness practices). In this model, the patient is an active participant in their care.

" I have known Dr. Camasto for eight years and have been blessed to have her care for my children at a variety of ages and with a medley of different health needs. She is a compassionate, intelligent, and diligent physician who listens carefully and considers each child as a real person. Dr. Camasto exudes a wealth of knowledge that she has gleaned through experiences from her life and career and I’ve been blessed to learn skills from her that I can implement in our own life at home. I highly recommend her care and skills to other parents seeking health and vibrant life for their children. She is a treasure of a physician." -J.D., Red Hill, PA
"I highly recommend Dr. Camasto to anyone inquiring. As a new nurse practitioner, I worked with her very closely. As a mentor and a provider she inspired me to be the provider I am today. Her care and compassion for her patients and their family led me to switch my own children from their long time pediatrician to her.
While under her care, my children received top notch care. Dr. Camasto even discovered two very complex medical conditions with my daughter missed by our previous pediatrician and continued to follow her progress and advocate for our daughter every step of the way. Her care and compassion is second to none. Hands down the best patient advocate and care provider I have encountered. She would be the best pediatrician imaginable for anyone looking for their children." - Nicole G.
